How to play
The goal
Fill the grid so that no mark repeats. Every row, every column and every box uses each mark exactly once. A box is a block outlined in a thicker line: 2×2 on a 4×4 board, 2×3 on 6×6, 3×3 on 9×9, and so on.
Sizes and styles
- Sizes: boards run from 4×4 up to 16×16, with one mark for each square along a row.
- Marks: colours, shapes or patterns. The rules are the same whichever you play.
- Latin boards have no boxes. Only rows and columns count.
- Double adds a second, completely separate puzzle on the inner circles. It has its own answer, and the challenge is not letting the two blur together.
- Scramble adds a decoy layer that tries to mislead you.
Playing
- Tap a mark in the palette, then tap a square to place it. Tap the same mark again to clear it.
- Marks already on the board when you start are fixed. Yours sit slightly inset.
- Repeats shake at you, but never block you.
Daily puzzle
One puzzle a day, the same for everyone. The size and style follow the day of the week, from a gentle start to a big finish on Sunday:
- Monday: 4×4 colours, Hard (Compact)
- Tuesday: 6×6 shapes, Easy (Symbol)
- Wednesday: 9×9 colours, Easy (Grid)
- Thursday: 4×4 colours, Double, Hard (Double)
- Friday: 6×6 shapes, Hard (Symbol Hard)
- Saturday: 9×9 colours, Hard (Expert)
- Sunday: 10×10 colours, Double, Latin, Hard (Master)
Daily puzzles have no hearts, and you can solve one late and still keep your calendar star.
Levels
Levels are a climb, not a calendar. They start with easy 4×4 boards and grow through five worlds, with new sizes, shapes, patterns and rules arriving one at a time. Each new idea comes with a short explainer.
- Five worlds: Sunrise (4×4, then 6×6), Tide (6×6 in all its forms), Lattice (Latin rules), Echo (9×9 standard and double) and Prism (everything combined).
- Stages: each world is split into stages of 20 levels. Difficulty rises and falls in waves within a stage.
- ⚡ Challenge levels turn up every tenth level once you are past the early ones.
- Clock and hearts: every level has a time limit. A failed attempt costs one of your five hearts, and a heart comes back every 20 minutes.
- Stars: beat the target time for three stars, finish within 40% of it for two, otherwise one. Each hint you use costs a star, down to a minimum of one.
